Il software Uni-Fy gate è un sistema di gestione di reti wireless e HotSpot, dedicato in particolare alla gestione delle autenticazioni degli utenti. Il sistem è stato sviluppato partendo da un software open-source denominato WilmaGate sviluppato all'interno del progetto WILMA. L'intera architettura si basa su un sistema di autenticazione che segue al filosofia delle reti Open Access: tutti gli utenti che desiderano accedere a reti pubbliche devono prima essere autenticati da un Internet Serivce Provider o da un ente che (di solito) non è la stessa entità che gestisce e controlla la rete di accesso.
The Uni-Fy gate system is a Wireless LAN and HotSpot management system devoted to management of user accounting and authentication. The system is built starting form the source software called WilmaGate developed under the WILMA Project. The whole architecture pivots around an authentication system following the Open Access Philosophy: all the users who want to access to public networks must be authenticated by an Internet Service Providers or an agency which is not (normally) the same entity owning and controlling the access network.
